After the match Saturday 14 October:
$10 schnitzels at Harper’s Field
I write to you in the hope that you can assist SACA and the Golden Grove Cricket Club in recruiting the next generation of cricket stars! Golden Grove is hosting MILO in2CRICKET for boys and girls aged 5-8 and is also fielding teams in the NEJCA T20 Blast program at Para Hills Cricket Club. Previously the club have had really good numbers for both programs but not so much this season. With school going back on Monday, I request your assistance in asking your child’s school receptionist whether it would be possible to get some cricket information into the school newsletter or some flyers in the kids hands. We have run clinics at a number of schools around the area and always request that a newsletter insert goes in but this often falls on deaf ears, hence someone with a closer relationship to the school might have a better chance. The details of both programs are below:
From Thursday 12 October 2017, the start of Senior training will be moved to 5:30pm.
The Club requires at least 4 more Under 14 players to fill the two teams. If you are a past player who hasn’t signed up yet or have a friend who would like to play, please register via the Club website as soon as possible.
Unfortunately we didn’t have enough Under 12 players to fill a fourth side. These players have now been distributed amongst the other three teams. Each team now has 12 players which is a manageable number for the coaches and managers.
A reminder that membership fees are now due. Please read the Club's Fees Policy now available in the Policies tab. In particular please note that fees are due by the end of October unless an agreement has been made with the Club Treasurer and that you are not covered by the Club's insurance unless you have paid a minimum of $50.
Additional training sessions
As Jay said last night we have booked in additional training sessions. However, there has been a slight change due to available times.
A and B Grades will train on Monday 18 and 25 September from 7-8pm at Mega Courts.
C and D Grades will train on Tuesday 19 and 26 September from 7-8pm at Mega Courts.
I am very proud to be named the A Grade (and therefore Club) Captain for the 2017/18 season. It’s no secret that I suffer from back and knee problems – twenty years of wicket keeping will do that to you apparently – but I’d like to assure everyone that I would not have accepted the position if I didn’t think that I could last a game or the season.
We have the opportunity for two Senior practice matches:
Saturday 23 September v Para Vista CC. This will be a hard wicket match.
Are you are girl aged 10 to 14 years old and want to play cricket? The Girls Strikers Indoors 4s Cricket Competition may be what you are looking for.
The Committee has appointed the following people for the 2017/18 season:
A Grade Captain: Graeme Lynch
B Grade Captain: Ian Henderson
The Club is required to nominate Under 15 and Under 17 by 11 September 2017.
We currently have the following vacancies available in the Junior teams. Thank you to the people who have put their hand up to coach.
